LBHF wishes to announce the formal commencement of its
personalized mentorship programme in the Performing Arts.
The programme entails intense mentoring in the various arms
of the Visual and Performing Arts. where experienced
practitioners will tutor younger artistes through a close
grooming process, leading to a showcase performance event
and/or exhibition.
The selected pilot project for 2015, is - DANCE ✫ DRAMA ✫
DANCE-DRAMA, and will entail:
SCRIPTING
DIRECTING
ACTING
DANCE/CHOREOGRAPHY
STAGE DESIGN
LIGHTING and/or TECHNICALS
STAGE MANAGEMENT
COSTUMING
The protégés will be required to be “in residence” for a total of three to four weeks, spaced out as mutually agreed between Mentor and Protégé. Such residencies shall however take place within the two months of January 15, 2015 and March 14, 2015. All successful protégés will then be required to return a week leading into the Festival (April 2015) as a team, in a collaboration for their showcasing.
Interviews will take place on January 9 & 10, 2014 @ Freedom Park, Broad Street, Lagos Island, Lagos State, Nigeria.
Applicants must be between 16 and 21 years of age at the timeof application.
They must ensure that they will be available at the times
agreed between themselves and their Mentors, but certainly
during the final week before the Festival. All applicants are
required to forward a brief (maximum one double-spaced
TYPED page) summary of their artistic experience so far,
together with a portfolio or video presentation either from
prior artistic participation or, in relevant cases, a 5-10 minute
video of themselves in a dramatic or dance sequence of their
choice.
They should also provide two letters of reference, stating the
relationship to the referee.
