And Crown Troupe bares it all

For those who have never witnessed Crown Troupe of Africa in action, it just goes to say  that they are missing a vital part of the essence of theatre itself. Theirs is not a mission just to entertain, it is a mission to tell of the realities of today's world; a pedagogic mission geared toward bettering the society from which it draws its inspiration.
Over the years, I have been an avid student of the theatre and my experiences have only been enriched by the Segun Adefila led Crown Troupe of Africa. On the first of March, these ardent purveyors of theatre treated a select audience at the Ethnic Heritage Centre to realism in Nigeria as written by Isi Joy Bewaji. A compendium of articles, the performance titled 'Chronicles of the Nigerian' was simply explosive. No topic was considered sacred as Crown Troupe's interpretation bared it all.
Needless to say that Crown Troupe constantly raises the bar in its delivery of its fresh kind of theatre. Some who have no inkling as to why I keep going on and on need to understand that this is not just an encomium for talents found in Crown Troupe, but a recognition of the hard work that goes into the honing of that talent. Talent alone is never enough. If it were, many today would be famous and successful.
With the 2015 elections approaching, Crown Troupe packaged a truly inspiring performance which I first witnessed at Oba Sonuga's 70th birthday cultural fiesta at Freedom Park. Follow the link below to take a sneak peak at these maestros at the drawing table where it all begins.
